P208A: Reductant Pump A Control Circuit/Open — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
Reductant Pump A Control Circuit/Open. Basic catalogue definition; diagnostic details have not yet been reviewed.
Affected system: Powertrain
Symptoms
- An engine or emissions-system warning, sometimes mentioning DEF, may appear.
- Depending on the vehicle, a persistent fault may eventually limit engine performance.
Possible causes
- The DEF/reductant pump control circuit may be open; this is an electrical-circuit indication, not proof that the pump is mechanically seized.
- Damaged or disconnected wiring, corroded plugs or a pump electrical failure are possible.
- A control-module problem is considered only after basic circuit checks.
What to check
- Confirm P208A and other SCR faults, then inspect the pump plug and harness for moisture, damage or corrosion.
- Test power, ground and circuit continuity using the vehicle wiring information.
- If the circuit passes, command the pump with a suitable diagnostic tool before replacing parts.
