P2068: Fuel Level Sensor B Circuit High — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
Fuel-level sensor B: The electrical input is above its permitted range. This is an electrical finding, not an instruction to replace the monitored component. B identifies the second named sensing channel, not a universal side of the tank. An electrical low/high result does not by itself prove the fuel level is physically low/high.
Affected system: Fuel-level measurement
Symptoms
- The fuel gauge may freeze or fluctuate unexpectedly.
- A warning light may appear, and distance-to-empty readings can become unreliable.
Possible causes
- A high electrical signal from fuel-level sender B does not necessarily mean the tank is full.
- A faulty sender, damaged wiring or corroded connector can affect the signal.
- Depending on the vehicle, the sender may be part of the in-tank pump assembly.
What to check
- Confirm P2068 and compare gauge and scan-tool fuel-level readings.
- Inspect sender B wiring and pins for damage, corrosion or poor contact.
- Measure the circuit voltage and check the sender against vehicle-specific specifications before replacing components.
