P0598 — Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Low

P0598: Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Low — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.

Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks

Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Low. Basic catalogue definition; diagnostic details have not yet been reviewed.

Affected system: Powertrain

Symptoms

  • The malfunction indicator may illuminate; the fault does not necessarily produce an obvious driving symptom.
  • A check-engine lamp may appear, with abnormal warm-up only if thermostat regulation is affected.

Possible causes

  • Corroded or loose thermostat-heater connector and damaged wiring may create a low control-circuit reading.
  • An internally faulty electronically controlled thermostat heater may load or interrupt the circuit.
  • A wiring or connector defect should be excluded before a costly component replacement.

What to check

  • Read P0598 and related faults; retain freeze-frame information.
  • Check thermostat connector, harness and coolant leakage near electrical parts.
  • Test thermostat heater wiring and its command against OEM electrical specifications; low signal is not the measured coolant temperature.
  • Correct only the confirmed defect, then verify the result under the maker's specified conditions.
