P0465: EVAP Purge Flow Sensor Circuit — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
EVAP Purge Flow Sensor Circuit. Basic catalogue definition; diagnostic details have not yet been reviewed.
Affected system: Powertrain
Symptoms
- The malfunction indicator may illuminate; the fault does not necessarily produce an obvious driving symptom.
- The emissions warning light may be the only visible sign; irregular idling is also possible.
Possible causes
- A purge solenoid that fails to control vapor flow.
- Loose, damaged or oxidized connections in the purge-flow sensor circuit.
- A wiring or connector defect should be excluded before a costly component replacement.
What to check
- Read P0465 and related faults; retain freeze-frame information.
- Inspect the purge valve, sensor connector and related wiring for visible defects.
- Test the purge-flow signal and the valve command separately using the vehicle procedure.
- Correct only the confirmed defect, then verify the result under the maker's specified conditions.
