P0462 — Fuel level Sensor Circuit Low Input

P0462: Fuel level Sensor Circuit Low Input — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.

Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks

The controller detects a low electrical signal or voltage in the fuel-level sensor circuit. Low input describes the monitored electrical value, not necessarily a physically low fuel level or pressure. The code does not by itself identify the failed component; sensor and circuit behavior must be checked against the exact vehicle wiring and specifications.

Affected system: Fuel level sensing

Symptoms

  • Gauge may remain empty; inaccurate range.

Possible causes

  • Faulty sender, short circuit or corroded connections.

What to check

  • Inspect connectors; compare sender voltage and resistance with vehicle specifications.
