P0245 — Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Actuator A Circuit Low

P0245: Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Actuator A Circuit Low. Identify the correct device before testing.

Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks

Wastegate A control has a low electrical monitor condition. Diagnose the circuit; low boost may be an effect, not the definition of P0245.

Affected system: Powertrain

Symptoms

  • Engine warning lamp; limited power or weak acceleration.
  • Irregular boost response; sometimes only a stored code without clear symptoms.

Possible causes

  • Ground short or inadequate supply in the monitored circuit, depending on architecture.
  • Actuator/solenoid electrical fault; investigate the driver only after circuit checks.

What to check

  • Identify wastegate actuator or solenoid A in engine documentation and read the full subcode; A alone does not identify its location.
  • Save failure data and related pressure/position codes; determine whether the fault is constant or command-dependent.
  • Inspect the hot-area connector, harness supports and heat damage; check the specified supply and ground.
  • Test for ground shorts and supply voltage drops under the specified load, protecting modules as instructed.
  • Verify operation after repair by the OEM method; rod adjustment or turbo replacement does not replace circuit diagnosis.
