P0232: Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High — what it means, the affected system and what to check before replacing parts.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High. Basic catalogue definition; diagnostic details have not yet been reviewed.
Affected system: Powertrain
Symptoms
- Check-engine warning; start failure, stumbling or intermittent pump operation are possible.
- The secondary fuel-pump circuit has an unexpectedly high electrical input, not necessarily high hydraulic fuel pressure.
Possible causes
- Relay contacts stuck or a wire shorted to supply voltage.
- Pump-control module or harness fault; pump operation itself must be tested separately.
What to check
- Confirm P0232 and identify the secondary pump-monitor circuit in the vehicle schematic.
- Compare commanded pump/relay state with measured circuit voltage under OEM conditions.
- Inspect relay, fuse, wiring and ground for unwanted back-feed or short to supply.
- Check pump functionality and delivery only when the electrical fault is characterized.
- Repair verified relay/wiring/module issue and retest both circuit state and fuel delivery.
