P0148: Reports an error in fuel delivery.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
Reports an error in fuel delivery. The generic definition does not specify a particular pressure fault, injector or fuel-pump failure.
Affected system: Powertrain
Symptoms
- Check-engine warning, poor acceleration, rough running or hard starting.
- Some engines may stall or enter reduced-power operation if fuel delivery cannot meet demand.
Possible causes
- Insufficient or irregular fuel supply, restricted filter or delivery line.
- Faulty feed pump, pressure control, wiring or inaccurate pressure sensing.
- Fuel leak or injector issue where supported by the specific engine architecture.
What to check
- Record P0148, related fuel pressure/flow codes and engine operating conditions.
- Inspect supply path for safe, accessible leaks and restrictions; verify filter and fuel quality.
- Use scan-tool parameters to compare requested and actual fuel pressure/flow where available.
- Diagnose pump supply and control circuits; apply OEM pressure test procedures only with rated equipment.
- Do not open a common-rail/high-pressure circuit before pressure has been safely released by approved procedures.
- Repair the confirmed root cause and validate pressure behaviour and DTC recurrence.
