P0010: Camshaft A actuator control circuit/open, bank 1.
Meaning, symptoms, causes and checks
P0010 identifies the bank 1 camshaft A actuator circuit, normally the intake cam. It indicates an electrical control fault, without proving chain wear or a failed CMP sensor. Confirm component location for the engine.
Affected system: Powertrain
Symptoms
- Check-engine lamp, sometimes without obvious running changes.
- Possible hard starting, uneven idle, hesitation or reduced power.
Possible causes
- Open wire or loose/corroded actuator connection.
- Open solenoid winding; supply or driver fault, subject to testing.
What to check
- Record codes and freeze-frame; distinguish P0010 from position/correlation codes.
- Locate the bank 1 intake actuator A and pins from OEM diagrams.
- With ignition off, inspect pins, oil contamination and harness chafing.
- Test supply, continuity and insulation as instructed with modules isolated; use engine-specific solenoid specifications.
- Run an authorised actuator test and check circuit feedback; verify repair under the original conditions.
